From the Indianapolis Colts
The NFL today announced that Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 12. This marks the first time Hilton has earned the award in his career.
Last week against Buffalo, Hilton recorded his second two-touchdown game of the season and became the first player in Colts history with a punt return for a touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the same game. It was the team’s first punt return for a touchdown since Dec. 16, 2007 when T.J. Rushing logged a 90-yard return for a score.
Hilton’s 75-yard punt return tied him for the second-longest punt return by a rookie in franchise history. For the game, he totaled four punt returns for 111 yards. His yardage total is the most by a Colts rookie and the fourth most overall in a single game in team history. Hilton’s punt return average of 27.8 yards in the game is the fifth
highest in team history and second highest by a Colts rookie.
For the season, Hilton has recorded 19 punt returns for 233 yards (12.3 avg.) and seven kickoff returns for 118 yards (16.9 avg.). He has also caught 33 passes for 488 yards and five touchdowns.
